UPS DELIVERS ACOMMERCIAL IN INYOKERN
(Ridgecrest)--- We all know UPS delivers to Inyokern, but last Thursday Inyokern delivered for UPS! Los Angeles production company, MJZ, chose the rural town located just west of Ridgecrest to star in one of six new television commercials for United Parcel Service. Each of the commercials, which will air nationally, will feature a UPS truck and driver morphing from one location to another. Viewers will see the remote desert overpass at Highways 395 & 178 instantly become New York City as UPS introduces its new marketing slogan, "Covering more ground - faster than ever." Both local and out-of-town travelers were patient as director Phil Joanou, and his crew of 60, halted traffic intermittently on both highways to get their shots. Joanou has also directed several acclaimed feature films including "Final Analysis," "State of Grace," U-2's "Rattle and Hum," and the upcoming "Gridiron Gang" starring The Rock. After an early evening wrap the crew moved north to film another segment of the six piece series. On Friday, Lone Pine substituted for the Colorado Rockies. The Ridgecrest Regional Film Commission, who worked with location manager Greg Ross to secure the locations and facilitate the production, estimates the one day shoot generated $24,000 in local revenue to property owners and businesses.
